Reunion is cancelled until 2010 or 2011

It is with great disappointment that I announce that the 2009 Carter reunion will not take place. I thank you for all your support and help and look forward to planning the 2010 reunion. Grandma is very concerned with the current economic situation and even though Obama is going to save us all (a little crack a Clint and Valerie) her concerns are evident in other family members. Now if anyone would like to get away for summer you are more than welcome to visit me in Idaho or we could meet somewhere if that would be better. Also if any of the guys or girls would like to come out and do some hunting with the gimp, feel free. Stay in touch and I wish you all the best in world and you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

When Valerie was here for a visit, we thought it might be fun for each family to bring a game to play at the reunion. We would need to let everyone know what game we want to bring so that we can have lots of choices.

There is a possibility that we can secure some meat in Colorado on our way down. We have a friend who works with Swift and can get us some good pricing on meat. Just a thought

Blaine and Jules rode the Durango to Silverton Train after the last Family Reunion, on the way home. They both enjoyed it. Blaine was thinking everyone would really have a good time taking the train up the mountain with the kids. Madison and I did not ride it then, but we are looking foward to it this year!

Prior reunions

Here's some pix from earlier gatherings of the clan.
1st was the reunion in Wenden in 1979:

The great Chef and his assistant----

The cousins hike -----

The first Lynn & Loretta Carter family reunion in 2003:

Making ice cream - oops forgot to soak the bucket - poor Aunt Suzy - but she persevered.

The nature hike

The photographers

And finally a couple of my favorite shots from the reunion of 2006:

I'm ready to go camping - will be great to see everyone again.

So do what you need to do to convince your families to be there.

P.S. -- Someone needs to make sure these blogs get printed out and given to Grandma Carter to keep her in the loop. I know she gets frustrated that we all communicate on the computer and she can't.

2009 Reunion - Durango Colorado

The Tri-annual Carter Reunion planning process is currently underway. This time, the family matriarchs entrusted their offspring to successfully plan and carry out the 2009 reunion. Whether this was a wise choice remains to be seen. Fortunately, if things continue to progress as they already have, the reunion will prove to be a great time for all. Thanks to the efforts of John (or Blaine, did he really think we would let him change to his first name that easily?) and others, we now have a location and dates. After deliberation amongst the cousins, Durango, Colorado was selected as the location, and John reserved the beautiful Chris Park group campsite for the following dates: June 20th through June 25th. The Chris Park campsite is 19 miles north of Durango and located at 8000'. Plus it is close to a river. With Durango only 19 miles away, those who are camping averse can stay in Durango at night and lose to me at horseshoes during the day.

You are all invited to be authors (post blogs) on this site and comment freely. If I inadvertently neglected to include your email in the author invite, please let me know. I think it would be fun to post blogs of memories of former reunions or ideas and random thoughts concerning this one. Please upload pictures also.
